What is Email Extraction?
Email extraction (or email scraping) is the process of automatically finding and collecting email addresses from web pages. It's commonly used for building contact lists, lead generation, journalism research, competitive intelligence, and finding the right contact person at a company. Our tool extracts emails from both visible text and HTML source, including mailto: links.
Where Emails Appear on Websites
Emails can be in the visible page body, inside mailto: hyperlinks, in the footer (contact information), in "About" and "Team" pages, inside image alt text (rare), or obfuscated using JavaScript to deter scrapers. Our tool extracts from the HTML source, catching mailto links and text patterns but not JavaScript-obfuscated emails.
Legal Considerations
Email collection must comply with applicable laws. GDPR (EU), CAN-SPAM (US), and CASL (Canada) all have rules about collecting and using email addresses for marketing. Generally, you can collect publicly posted emails, but sending unsolicited commercial email (spam) to those addresses without proper opt-in is illegal in many jurisdictions. Always comply with local law and email marketing regulations.

Why Some Emails May Be Missed
Sites using Cloudflare email protection replace @ with [at] or use JavaScript to display emails only to real browsers. Some sites show emails as images. Contact forms deliberately avoid displaying email addresses. In these cases, you'll need to find the email manually through other means.
