URL encoding (percent-encoding per RFC 3986) converts special characters into % followed by hexadecimal codes. Spaces become %20, @ becomes %40, and so on. Only ASCII letters, digits, and - _ . ~ are safe in URLs without encoding. All other characters in query strings, form data, and API parameters must be encoded.
